The Retail Name Of Blackberry Venice Is … And The Price Isn’t Cheap

Recently we have heard a lot about Blackberry Venice. It’s a new flagship from Blackberry with the Android OS inside. This interesting device combines the Blackberry style on hardware – a sliding multi touch screen display with full QWERTY keyboard. The video of this evaluation device has circulated and it shows that it will be ready to launch late this year. But, what is the retail name of Blackberry Venice?

Evan Blass wrote on his Twitter @evleaks “At retail, Venice transforms into … Blackberry Priv.”  The Blackberry Priv will become the next rumor of the Blackberry with the Android OS journey. I didn’t know yet what is the meaning of the Blackberry Priv. For instance, last year, Blackberry launched Blackberry Passport. The Passport name was inspired by its namesake and incorporates features designed to make the device attractive to enterprise users, such as a unique square-shaped display measuring 4.5 inches diagonally.

Perhaps we are going to find out they reason to choose the Blackberry Priv name.

What about the price of this upcoming Blackberry device? We can see it from the leaked document that appears from the internal testing to get the certification in India.

This device has the testing number STV100-3 and the other number that follows it, is surprising. That number seems to be the price of the Blackberry Priv in Indian currency, that is 62,262 Rupee or equal to US$955. But, it’s still a rumor through the leaked image. If it’s true, the price is much higher than Blackberry Passport, which has a base price US$699. Actually, I am not really surprised with that price, because Blackberry many times launched the expensive devices. For example, Blackberry P’9983 Porche Edition with US$1200.
